Sponsoring the World Route Development Strategy SummitThe World Route Development Strategy Summit, a two-day gathering preceding the world’s largest aviation event, was organized for the first time this year on 2-3 October. No less than 50 speakers, executives from route development, tourism and the cargo industry, spoke on more than 20 topics. Budapest Airport was happy to sponsor the initiative, aimed at giving participants a complete picture of the greatest challenges facing aviation currently, and getting to know the latest innovations on the market. Jost Lammers, the CEO of Budapest Airport, and Christa Soltau, VP Cargo & Logistics, were among the speakers at the conference. We have a winner!During the World Routes conference, visitors to Budapest Airport’s stand could learn about Hungary not just by tasting the finest Hungarian food and drinks, but those who dropped their business card into a collection box participated in a prize draw, where the main prize was a three-day trip to the Hungarian capital. The prize was offered jointly by Budapest Airport and the Hungarian National Tourism Organization, and it was handed over to the winner, Ms. Irina Belyushina, Head of Network Development at Rossiya Airlines by Kam Jandu, director aviation for Budapest Airport and Lajos Palkó, advisor to the CEO at HNTO, on the last day of the conference. |

Budapest Airport wins top award at World Routes Conference in BerlinBudapest Airport has been formally announced as the European winner of this year’s World Routes Airport Marketing Awards at the 2011 Gala Networking Evening in Berlin, Germany. More than 3000 aviation professionals gathered for the 14th annual event. The airport was particularly commended for its “comprehensive submission and constant innovation in marketing” by the judges. The entry detailed the opening of a new terminal building bud:skycourt, route development incentives, in-depth market analysis, airport research, product development, partnering with Hungary’s Tourist Board, joint promotions such as digital and social media campaigns and seven new routes in the last 12 months, including Qatar Airways to Doha, American Airlines to New York and SkyWork Airlines to Bern.
